As well rounded university students, we seek not only improvement of our academic study, but also wider horizons and new friends! A Chinese Corner organized by SIECA took place at More Café at 20:00 on April 13, 2017.
At the beginning, Chinese students helped exchange students with their Chinese homework, which was considered as a precious language class by our foreign friends. Then the participants were divided into four groups. Each group had a host who had prepared interesting topics and relative information for exchange students. The topics were Chinese tongue twisters, Chinese name culture, Chinese hometown culture and Chinese network words.
One of the hosts introduced how Chinese parents name their children according to their birth time, Chinese zodiac signs, Chinese poetry and the social environment.
Chinese Network Words Section helped exchange students to follow the latest development of Chinese language.
In the Hometown Culture Section, the host introduced some features of Taiwan in detail, including Taiwanese snacks and Taiwanese accents. A Korean exchange student shared his deep impression on Taiwanese accents whose funny imitation laughed everyone to tears.
Our Chinese Corner ended at 9:00 p.m. with joy and laughter. Both Chinese students and exchange students have had a better understanding of each other. “It’s really fun to have further conversations like this with you,” said a lovely German girl. What highlighted the night were the various insights based on different cultures. We are looking forward to your participation in the next Language Corner!
