This Saturday was a sunny and pleasant day so SIECA members and their buddies went to Laomendong in southern Nanjing not only to appreciate the spectacular view of this historic city but also to enjoy the traditional Nanjing snacks.
To enrich the content of the trip, the Department of activity designed an intersting game called” Snack Bingo” and successfully triggered the passion of all the participants. In the game, each team needed to find the correct snack shop and take pictures with the typical snack provided there. The first team to return to the starting point with photos would get a prize—SIECA would cover the money they spent on the snacks.
So the game started! SIECA members and international buddies were divided into groups and began hunting for snacks. The exchange students were soon charmed by all kinds of food, whether salty or spicy. They gave those snacks thumb-ups when eating. Even the SIECA members who lived in Nanjing for a long time were surprised at such a wide variety of snacks hidden there. This snack game made participants satisfied and joyful.
Laomendong is not only famous for its snacks but also a perfect spot to appreciate Chinese traditional culture. Stores with typical Chinese folk art, which could often be seen along the street, attracted international friends’ attention. They bought many souvenirs, hoping to bring items with Nanjing characteristics to their own country.
Every single path of Laomendong has its nostagic beauty. Apart from having fun, it is also delightful to hang around with a peaceful heart.
After the game, many students were still longing for more. They went further to Zhonghuamen to climb the ancient wall, taking pictures as if they in a proud pose.
This was the exploration of Laomendong. As the first station of the Exploring Nanjing activities, the trip left us a lot of laughter and a full belly. What’s more, Nanjing has been more than a simple concept that “it is where my university locates in”. Instead, it is also a city where we had our precious common memory! If you want to know more about Nanjing and China, or even the world, please keep up with SIECA. We will organize more interesting and meaningful activities in the future. Welcome to join us!
