When you look at the bright moon, you will always recall the poem that passes through thousand years:small cakes, like the moon, have delicious stuffing in them. Time flies, the tradition is still engraved on the four words "the Mid Autumn Festival" .
On September 21st, SIECA held "Mooncake DIY" in the NO.2 faculty canteen. Buddies from different countries gathered together to explore the secret of the golden mooncakes.

In the dining room, the orange light sprinkled softly in every corner, creating a happy atmosphere. All kinds of mooncake raw materials were ready, and the check-in table was full of laughter. After the sincere welcome of the two hosts and the introduction to the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the DIY activity officially began.
Under the careful guidance of each group leader, everyone got busy soon, kneading dough, making stuffing, embossing.Foreign members gradually became experienced after groping step by step, making a variety of beautiful mooncakes. Each group also had its own ideas, and of course the process was always challenging, such as if more water was added or the flour was too sticky, the mooncakes would be out of shape. It seems that there are some unique mysteries behind the small moon cakes.

Time passed quickly without awareness, and with the smart adjustment and hard working, every group’s plate was full of Cantonese-style mooncakes to be baked. Of course, the snow skin mooncakes were also ready, whose thin rich skin and stuffing made everyone eager to eat.
"Ding--"the red flames in the oven were extinguished, and the moon cakes appeared finally with the expectations . The golden mooncakes were set against the white dishes, and the wonderful patterns showed caramel color. The stuffing were seemingly to flow out! The mooncakes were eaten up with laughter, and students from different countries were familiar with each other. Although the Mooncake DIY activity was coming to an end, no one wanted to stop.

At the end of the activity, in the light of the bright moonlight, a group shot was taken to memorize the most beautiful moment. On this night, we not only gained precious friendship, but also felt the warmth of SIECA family.

Mooncakes, the widely-known traditional delicacy, have become a bridge built between exchange students and Chinese food culture. Through the Mooncake DIY activity, we opened the gate of traditional culture for exchange students.
