The national key discipline of ancient Chinese literature is composed of 6 research institutes: Center for Chinese Poetics, Chinese Classics Institute, Center for Studies of Poems and Verses, Center for Studies of Extraterritorial Chinese Books, Center for Studies of Ming and Qing Literature, Office for Compilation of the Anthology of Qing Poems.

The research team aligns the studies of classical Chinese documents with studies of literature and history, and values individuals’ initiatives and innovative methodology. Superior to its counterparts in mainland China, this research team enjoys an exceptional academic capacity highly acclaimed at home and abroad.
