Professor Chen has long been engaged in the study of surfacial geochemical processes and global change, including geochemical processes of Asian eolian dust during production, transportation and sedimentation and their paleoenvironmental implications, biogeochemical cycles of elements, carbon fixiation by minerals and geochemical methods.
