Now Offering "China Studies" Master Program
With China's economic and social development and overall national strength, many students hope to come to China to learn about Chinese society, history, culture and economic developments. As many have come, there are still many keen students, particularly European and American students, who would like to come to China for study and research, but are limited by their Chinese language ability. Nanjing University, one of the top universities in the country, is now pioneering and leading the way, offering an innovative graduate degree in China Studies. We hope that creating this program of higher learning with classes in English, will open doors for more international students to study and learn in China.
Program Description
This program offers international students the chance to delve into learning about China’s economy, philosophy, history, culture, education, the development of contemporary Chinese society, and other fields, as well as a comparative perspective to other countries.
The program will consist of three main focuses:
1)Chinese Philosophy and History
2)Chinese Society and Economy
3)Chinese Language, Culture, and Literature
The program will have the benefits of traditional academic disciplines in addition to a variety of teaching methods including case studies, academic discussions, social practices, and research to foster students’ ability to analyze problems within different fields in China, and assist students with future work experience in China. Using China’s vast domestic resources, students will have hands-on research experience, investigating all aspects of China, including historical and cultural, social, economic, and contemporary issues.

Tuition: 23, 000 RMB per year

Scholarship
Candidates can apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship which includes free tuition, free accommodation and a monthly stipend of 1,700 RMB. Program Requirements for MA Degree
This MA Program will be 2-3 years. Total credits for graduation: at least 32 credits, of which there will be: 8 compulsory courses, 2 credits per course, for a total of 16 credits; at least five electives, 2-3 credits per course, for a total of 10-15 credits; and 4 additional credits for completion of a MA thesis.

From the high-caliber academic resources and vast disciplines of Nanjing University including from culture, history, philosophy, political, social, and economic fields, the Institute for International Students has organized a 16 credit curriculum to be taught in English, by relevant Nanjing University professors, in addition to inviting experts and professionals from at home and abroad.

Requirements for Application
Bachelors Degree
English-speaking students.
For non-English speaking applicants, English proficiency is required: TOEFL (paper test) 600 points , or 95 points on the new TOEFL, or 6.5 on the IELTS.
