If you want to close your bank account, you need to go to the bank branch with your card and your passport. For SIM card, you can use the service “停机保号” (Suspend Service While Keeping Number), which allows you to keep your number by paying a small fee. If you do not need it anymore, you have two options: you can simply leave it inactive, and after two months of non-payment, the card will be automatically deactivated; or you can visit a SIM card store in person to cancel it.
There are no restrictions on which bank you open the card. Students need to buy a Chinese mobile phone card before applying for the bank account.Exchange students can apply for ICBC debit card with your passport and admission notice.
